Our mission is to help destigmatise mental health conditions in people of black origin by promoting well being in the community.
Our Approach
Creating Awareness
There is stigma associated with any form of mental health conditions and it prevents particularly in people of black heritage and communities from getting help, a belief that having some form of mental health difficulties is a sign of weakness and should be kept hidden from others.
Bridging Inequalities
In the UK, the NHS Race and Health Observatory found overwhelming evidence of poor outcomes for ethnic minority groups, and this include people of black origin. Some of the largest inequalities were found in mental health. Signposting and intervention are keys to better outcomes.
Appropriate Care
By providing training to increase cultural awareness, knowledge and skills by using culture-specific attitudes and value to promote both physical and mental health and to help reduce health inequalities in some specific communities.
5 Ways To Well Being
1. Connect with people around me
Building strong relationships with family, friends, and the community is vital to our wellbeing. Taking time to talk, listen, and share experiences helps us feel supported, valued, and connected to something greater than ourselves.
2. Be active in a way that suits me and that I enjoy
Physical activity boosts both body and mind. Whether it’s walking, dancing, gardening, or playing a sport, finding an activity you enjoy can lift your mood, reduce stress, and help you feel more energetic and confident.
3. Take notice and be mindful of my surroundings
Being present in the moment helps us appreciate life more fully. Notice the beauty in everyday things, pay attention to your thoughts and feelings, and take time to reflect on what truly matters to you. Mindfulness encourages calmness and gratitude.
4. Keep learning new skills and developing myself
Learning keeps our minds active and gives us a sense of achievement. It doesn’t have to be formal—try a new recipe, join a class, or explore a hobby. Every new experience builds confidence and helps us grow.
5. Give what I can—whether it’s my time or simply a random act of kindness
Giving creates a sense of purpose and connection. Whether volunteering, helping a neighbour, or offering a smile or kind word, small acts of kindness can make a big difference—to others and to your own wellbeing.
